WHY IT'S CALLED GRACE NOTE

grace note  (noun) :

a brief ornamental note that brings beauty to the melody.

In music, a small note played just before the main one. It weighs almost nothing, and yet it changes how the next note lands.

Nearly every culture pauses before eating: a blessing over bread, a whispered itadakimasu, a hand resting on the table a single moment longer than necessary.

Without borrowing a belief, we can activate this gracious pause through music.

Every  meal  deserves  an  opening  note.

AN INVITATION

Before a meal,
tune your instrument.

Most of us eat on the run: standing at the counter, phone face up, mind still in the last meeting.

Digestion doesn't take orders. It answers to the part of the nervous system we can't command, and it works best when we slow down. Grace Note is three minutes of tuning between the day and the plate.

WHY THIS MOMENT MATTERS

Small pause.
Real physiology.

I.

Crafted for the moment before a meal.

Clear the static. The tone paces your breath and draws your attention down out of your head and into your body, so you come to the meal as a welcomed guest ready to digest more fully.

II.

Rooted in real physiology.

When you simply think of a lemon, your mouth begins to water. Physiologists call this the cephalic phase: the body starts preparing the moment it anticipates a meal. Grace Note gives that moment your full attention.

III.

Made for every meal.

Ritual works through repetition. Press play before each meal, and the opening tone becomes a cue your body learns: food is coming, slow down.

YOUR GUIDE

Charleene Closshey

Charleene Closshey is a conservatory-trained musician, Billboard Top 40 artist and composer. For four decades she studied what sound can do on a stage. Grief turned the question inward: what does sound do inside a body? Not all music changes the body. Charleene wants to know why. Great musicians have always sensed which sounds move people and which don't; as a PhD candidate in natural medicine, she measures what her compositions do to heart rate variability, sleep and brainwaves, bringing that intuition into the light so other artists can learn to compose for the body. She has revolutionized sound as wellness by introducing classical music's chromaticism into crystal singing bowls, expanding their palette from a single scale to the full color of classical harmony. She created Archetypes of Sound™, a framework that fuses classical musicology with Jungian psychology to read sound as a language of human states. Charleene has performed on Broadway in the Tony Award–winning musical Once, spoken at TEDx, and composed for film and television. Her album ALIGNED: A Planetary Mantra & Gong Shower has been endorsed by acoustic scientists and GRAMMY-winning artists alike. She's played in concert halls and worked in laboratories. Now, she brings both to your table.
